Please pardon my mistake as their is a grave site in this same area and I had thought this was it. But upon further research I found out that this is a C monument or C-block which were used to mark the right-of-way for California highways in the earlier days of establishing highway corridors in California. Today the blocks are no longer in use and very few remain this is just one of those that remained in the place. Its still a great historic find since they really do not use them anymore. This block was on an old historic road probably where the old highway ran through before it became Highway 88!
