Letchworth Village was opened in 1911 until its closure in 1996. During its 85 year operation, the residential institution (which at its peak consisted of over 130 buildings) was home to both the physical and mentally disabled.

Severely underfunded and understaffed, the institution quickly became a nightmare for those who lived there.

There were accounts of residents being found unclothed, unbathed, and neglected.

Rampant abuse was reported both among the institution's residents and staff, at the hands of co-workers, which included incidents of rape.

The institution gained national attention in 1972 from an expose by Geraldo Rivera.

We explore the ruins of a village that time has seem to have forgotten.
