Seventy-five years ago, a German officer known by the pseudonym “Michaelis” penned a diary outlining commander Heinrich Himmler's sinister plans to conceal stolen European riches, including more than 30 tons of gold.

One of these locations is an abandoned well nearly 200 feet beneath the 16th-century Hochberg Palace in Poland. The gold at the bottom of this well is believed to have originated from the Reichsbank and is estimated to be worth billions of euros.

For decades, the “Michaelis” diary remained hidden away in the town of Quedlinburg, Germany. It was in the possession of a Masonic lodge. Allegedly, one of these members was “Michaelis”, who controlled German transport in Poland.

The lodge handed over the diary to a Polish foundation in 2019. Along with the journal, they included a map pinpointing the well’s location on the Hochberg Palace grounds. However, the authenticity remains unconfirmed.
Documents suggest that after hiding their loot, the Germans ruthlessly disposed of witnesses in the well, and then sealed the entrance with explosives.
