The sanctuary was rebuilt after the original church which stood here fell victim to the 1906 earthquake. Today its a work of art as it became the first basilica west of the Mississippi in the 1900s. Although the mission is used the Basilica today is where most church services transpire. In the 1980s Pope John Paul II visited the parish as today many weddings, funerals and baptisms occur here. Join us as I give you a brief tour of the sanctuary full of beautiful stained glass windows, statues and architecture.
