The amusement park was not the first iteration of land use here, nor were the Clay family settlers. The Indigenous Shawnee tribe in what was to become Mercer County, West Virginia had likely suffered a pandemic or wave of disease brought on by earlier contact with Europeans, and until an archaeological survey was conducted on the property in the 1990's, no one knew the extent of the Indigenous burials on the land. We explored this haunted abandoned amusement park to see what we could find and experience for ourselves. We had no guide and were left ALONE in the entire place!
