The scene depicted in the text changes from a serene setting to a disturbing one with a river turned red and a little girl emerging from it covered in blood. The girl tells the narrator that she doesn't want to die, and a flashback reveals that the girl's father was a private doctor conducting research on maintaining youth for a rich man who wanted to live forever. In the next scene, the narrator witnesses a young woman being drained of her blood, which is then used by a rich man to bathe, in his quest for eternal youth. The doctor, who is the father of a young girl, is eventually ordered to kill his own daughter for her blood but refuses and is beaten to death. The daughter is then killed and buried carelessly. The narrator finds himself in a dark room with the ghostly apparition of the girl, who points to something on the ground. He realizes she wants a proper burial and finds her body buried outside. He gives her a proper burial and the girl's ghost appears once more, thanking him before disappearing.

The protagonist visits a mysterious cabin in the woods during a storm and experiences a series of disturbing flashbacks involving a rich man draining the blood of young women. The protagonist realizes that the spirit of a young girl killed by a rich man is haunting the cabin. After burying the girl's body and praying, the protagonist is thanked by the spirit and leaves the cabin. However, the old lady he meets on the way claims there is no cabin in the area, leaving the protagonist wondering if it was all just a hallucination. As he walks away, he sees the ghostly figure of the young girl behind the old lady, still watching him with crimson-red eyes.
