This is a tour exploration of the old Fort in Saint Augustine, Florida filmed back in August 2014. Accompanying me are my Mom and cousin Kathy though I do venture off at times.

I had been visiting the Castillo and Saint Augustine off and on since the 1990’s. Unfortunately, I do not have any earlier video footage available from past visits.
I know Ghost Adventures crew visited the Fort in one of their earlier seasons and got to do
some investigating at night for possible paranormal activity.

This episode is not a paranormal investigation but a tour/exploration on this particular visit.

Castillo de San Marcos is a masonry star fort made of a stone called coquina, which consists of ancient shells that have bonded together to form a sedimentary rock similar to limestone. Native Americans from Spain's nearby missions did most of the labor, with additional skilled workers brought in from Havana, Cuba. Construction began on 1672, and lasted twenty-three years, with completion in 1695.
Beginning in 1738, under the supervision of Spanish engineer Pedro Ruiz de Olano, the interior of the fort was redesigned and rebuilt.
This Fort has had Spanish, and British Occupation. Eventually Americans would take it over and imprison the Natives within the grounds during the Indian Wars. The Castillo was used during the American Civil War where the Union Army seized from the Confederates.
