It was a routine patrol - at least, that’s how it began. How many police stories start that way? There are likely thousands of officers who will tell you, whether in the big city or behind the trees of suburbia, some of their most memorable cases happened soon after they were comfortably in the midst of a routine patrol, just cruising around and waiting for something to happen... Of course, something always happens, and that run-of-the-mill evening becomes something else entirely. Such was the case with California Highway Patrol officers Charles Carson and Stanley Scott, who were in the middle of the fairly mundane task of tracking down a speeding motorcycle near the agricultural city of Corning. Nothing so special about this night, not yet, as the clock ticked toward midnight. But, as one might expect, we wouldn’t be telling you about officers Carson and Scott if their night’s most interesting element was an irresponsible biker. Officers Carson and Scott were about to earn their spot in the archives of startling, unexplainable UFO sightings.
