The Territorial Enterprise was established in 1858 in Genoa and by 1860 was moved to Virginia City. This was one of the most read miner newspapers in America which many well known journalist wrote for including Samuel Clemens, Dan De Quille and Fred Harte. While Mark Twain tried his hand in mining out west when he worked for this paper in the early 1860's he realized that he was a talented writer where he adapted his pen name Mark Twain. Today this was one of the oldest and longest running newspapers in the silver state. It now serves as a museum which boast old presses, Mark Twains desk, toilet and even a slab of marble the journalist nap on. This basement was the place that many journalist started off there careers in working long hours as reporters and gathering ideas for future writings. It was a basement of dreams for some journalist trying to make the big time. We invite our viewers to take a journey beneath the old Territorial Enterprise offices as we take you underground providing our viewers with history, relics of the past, stories from the caretaker and pictures with some holiday music at the very end.
