This week on Paranormal Night Shift, we're sharing the story of the wheelchair, submitted by Heather W. Heather grew up in western North Carolina, and her grandmother ran a boarding house for workers, drifters, and travelers. One couple had been staying at the boarding house for years. The old man was in a wheelchair, and the old woman was very nice. They seemed to be deeply in love.

One night, there was a horrible thunderstorm. The old woman was upstairs, and lightning struck the house, setting it ablaze. The old man was confined to his wheelchair, and his grandmother begged him to move to one of the other houses, but the old woman refused. She said that this was their home.

The fire department couldn't arrive in time, and the house burned to the ground. The only thing that remained was the old man's wheelchair. It was found at the bottom of the stairs, with the seat belt undone. It's impossible to imagine the agony the old man must have gone through, listening to his wife scream as he tried to climb the stairs to reach her.

Heather's grandmother and she could never bring themselves to throw away the wheelchair, so they put it in the attic. One night, there was another horrible thunderstorm, and Heather swore she could hear the wheelchair rolling around in the attic. The next morning, she went to check, and the wheelchair was right next to the stairs.

This is a beautiful and haunting story about love, loss, and the possibility of the afterlife. If you have any paranormal stories of your own, please submit them to Paranormal Night Shift. We'd love to hear them.
