Many of the miners had their own community surrounding the entire hillside. Some structures I found were one room cabins others were much larger like the house you see in this very clip that's boarded up. Most miners chose to live near the mines for accessibility and well what you are looking at was the first location prospectors discovered gold prior to Bodie becoming a town. Rumor has it that the vein that travels through this bluff is about 2 miles in length filled with pure Placer Gold!
