This memorial symbolized the height of the snowfall and those that lost there lives in the mid 1800s when the Donner Party became trapped at this very location. The snow eventually killed off the animals then came the people. In order to survive members of the party resorted to cannibalism otherwise they would have died of starvation. Out of 90 in this party only half survived and as anyone knows the winters in this region are harsh. They built tents and some built small cabins to wait out the winter however mainly the men who made an attempt to cross the summit ended up dying of exposure. This site according to others I have interviewed claim that this site is extremely haunted we will look into these claims much further in the the future.
