One of the first wagon trains to come to this area came up through this pass. Below in the valley you can see Donner Lake from afar where the Donner Party was forced to resort to cannibalism. The area is rather unique with snowfall that resides up along its cliffs and mountains almost all year around. This is a really great video because it gives you a perspective at how large of an area this is and vast.
