We would leave Silver State Valley from a gold mining hamlet known as Daveytown where we would begin our ascent into Jumbo Canyon which is located in the heart of the Slumbering Hills. The journey would take through a muddy washed out canyon eventually to the top of the mountains overlooking the beautiful Santa Rosa mountains, massive valleys and Oregon from afar. Will take you past the Alabama Mine and up to a crest where the gold mining town of Jumbo is located. Mining begin in the area in 1910 in this remote wilderness where you will get to see even a herd of antelope running across the many mining roads that snake everywhere throughout the slumbering hills. It begins to rain perhaps even snow flurry a little a storm is coming. Eventually as I come from over a hill you will see Jumbo off in the distance and its creepy old wooden cabins just awaiting there next visitor. Not allot is known about Jumbo but this definitely is a remote desolate journey that will take you right to its front doorstep.
