Exploring Cemetery in Queens, New York where Harry Houdini’s grave Site resides. On return visit on Halloween doing a Spirit Box Session trying to make contact with Houdini. Lots of voices come through and interesting interaction. On first visit Exploring the Abandoned Cemetery Office that was tore down a month later. From the archives this footage is from 2013 and 2015.

Welcome to this video log from my archives where I showcase footage from the couple of visits I did at the cemetery Harry Houdini resides. The first visit contains footage back in 2013 before the abandoned cemetery office building was demoed. The 2nd visit was on Halloween of 2015 when I do a spirit box session at Houdini’s grave. I do a ghost box session that night as well which I already put out on my channel back in 2015. I will put a link to that video in the description.

I started off doing some b roll footage at Beth El Cemetery, which is the cemetery to the right of Machpelah on the same street. Buried at this cemetery is the actor Edward G. Robinson. I would film at Machpelah the next day (where Houdini’s family grave site is).

Machpelah Cemetery is a Jewish cemetery located in Queens, New York on Cypress Hill Street along with a string of other cemeteries.
What makes this one stand out is that it contains the grave site of Harry Houdini. Harry, who’s birth name is Erich Weiss is buried there along with his Grand Parents, parents, 5 brothers, and sister. However, even though Harry’s wife’s name. Wilhelmina Beatrice, is engraved on the same grave stone, she is not buried there due to Jewish custom that forbids anyone not of the Jewish descent to be buried in a Jewish cemetery. You can see that her date of birth 1876 along with date of death has 19XX on it. I can picture Harry rolling in his grave with anger as his last after life magic trick.

On October 31, 1926, after a delayed removal of a ruptured appendix, Harry Houdini died.
During Halloween many come to visit the grave of Harry Houdini in hopes of him making an appearance on the anniversary of his death. It should be noted, for 10 years on Halloween his wife Bess would hold a séance in hopes of contacting Harry. They had devised a code he would use if he were truly able to contact Bess. The code was "Rosabelle, Believe". Sadly, that never happened and Bess, who had believed in the afterlife lost all hope of its existence.

Machpelah Cemetery, like most of the cemeteries in this area, was established in the mid 1800’s and the cemetery office had been abandoned since the 1980’s.
My footage from early July of 2013 here was filmed a little over a month before the demoed the building. Which I find unfortunate, but the place had been ransacked over the years and was in some serious disrepair. With old cemetery records scattered about, copper pipping removed, anything worth anything stolen, ceiling coming down, and overall decay. They were treating for rat infestation during the time I was there.

The next video I will upload will contain the music video I shot using footage from these 2 cemeteries in Queens and 1 in Brooklyn that hot summer of 2013 along with behind the scenes film footage at the cemetery in Brooklyn.

Location: Queens, New York
Date: July 5th & 6th 2013, and October 31 2015
