In the early 1860's the mill and its smelter were built changing hands at least three times. It went from Blue Canyon, Copper Canyon and eventually its final name called Yerington Smelter. This is our adventure at the smelter and inside a very dark tunnel that takes us inside the heart of the mill. It appears that today most of the people who come up here do so to vandalize as we uncover bullets, graffiti and even a creepy clown on the ground as well as a shoe.I found this area to be a bit more haunted then other sites on this journey not sure why that is but it is no secret that milling accidents sometimes led to death. Just adjacent to the smelter is a cliff that drops off into the river its a pretty view but standing on top of it really puts things into perspective as one canyon blends into the next.
