Alastor - In christian demonology, Alastor is considered a cruel demon who is he chief executor of the orders handed down by the upper demons of hell. He is also known as a cacoademon or evil spirit in greek. Evil genies and spirits were also known as alastors by older civilizations. For some, Alastor is the name given to evil geniuses of the house.
In the ancient greek period the word meant avenging god or avenging deity, literally he who does not forget. It was a word used to designate evil spirits of vengeance, and was associated with Nemisis, the godess of divine retrobution. These entities called Alastors were also connected with inflicted and spreading pestilence, and were said that while exacting revenge upon their wrongdoers, they would also bring further punishment on their descendants if they thought that the offenders died too soon. In a way he could be associated with bloodline curses, and sins that carry on from parent to child. Alastor is identified with the concept of children paying for the sins of their fathers, a common theme in Greek mythology Also the greek god zeus was known as Zeus Alastor when he would assume a vengeful form.
Some say Alastor was the personification of blood feuds between families, and that he would influence men to commit unspeakable crimes and sins. The psychic disharmony caused by the trauma of the crimes committed render the individual to be even more vulnerable to Alastor. They say Alastor was formerly a plain mortal, son of Neleus, king of Pylos, but after being slain by Hercules Alastor became a minor demon.
